... so squishy, and all of the buildings very very tall and narrow. This is due to the initial taxes when Amsterdam was established being based on how wide your property was, so houses instead were build long and narrow and many storeys tall to escape having to pay more land tax. Then it was on to Anne Frank House. We waited an hour and a half in line in some freezing cold wind but it was worth it. I read her diary when I was ...

The next one with room was an hour away, so we gratefully sat at a dockside table with a cold Coke Light (European for Diet Coke--and still no ice...) and a new treat, a gevulde koek. ... spent time at the hotel bar, ordering dinner and watching the World Cup. Tomorrow I plan to relax – I’m starting to feel worn down, with blisters. I want a day to just go at my own pace. I will probably take a canal cruise, and maybe find a good spot to watch the Netherlands play in the World Cup. Speaking of, sine they are still in the tournament, it’s crazy here with orange and blue lining everything – from the ceilings of bars ...

After a full on month we have made it to our final destination where we say farewell to our travel friends. What better place to chill out and celebrate than Amsterdam. After a terrifying morning trying to ride a bike through Amsterdam I was pleased to enjoy some of the other local traditions. As you can imagine there is little left to write about this day. It was very relaxed but spent with good friends. We meet ...
