On Sunday 28th September we departed Amsterdam on the 9.52 am train for
Hamburg. The best part of Amsterdam was the train out of there. We had to
change trains at Osnabruck again, this was a very easy operation. We arrived in
Hamburg at around 4.45 pm and an easy stroll to our hotel. A quick freshen up

... cruise for the english language dependants which also had a German translation. Hamburg is Germany's largest sea port, even though its 120km from the sea. It also claims to be one of the largest harbours in the world, so it was very interesting viewing the harbour from water level as we kept dodging bigger boats. ... raised the mast on one of the cogs moored in a canal off the Ilmenau River. The Stintmarkt, old harbour, has now become a mecca for cafes and bars, much to the delight of both the tourist population and resident students, especially on sunny days and balmy evenings. The mill race continues to funnel water through its channels, under the old mills which have now been refurbished.
