... tour for monday and spent the day seeing 5 different castles.
Our first castle was chenonceau, which remains my favorite. if i'm ever a fairy princess thats my castle. I think what made it so incredible was actually the fog. it was so ridiculously foggy you could barely see the outline of the castle which added to the surreal feel of all of it. unfortunately we made it back to the van late and our driver got all ***** and french at us. later ...

well, at least they understood the question...

so i informed them that all of that was simply UNACCEPTABLE and my classroom is a microcosm of the US, ergo if you are under 21 ( which thankfully they are only 19,20) drinking is strictly verboten and i don't want to hear about illegal ...

quick visit

Just paid a fleeting visit to St Tropez on the way to Avignon (so we thought)... had to be done really.. a quick wander around and a very quick coffee. It was much smaller than I thought. Lots of nice boats but loads of tourists too.... that was about it!

What a nice surprise

So we left St Tropez to head towards Avignon. I wanted to drive along the coast and we found a little road to take us there.. Little alright! It was about 11 or 17km of narrow winding steep roads. The worst part was the cars we occasionally ran into coming the other way and the big drop on the other side!
But it was all worth it. We found all these beautiful little beaches. We stopped at one and ...

A quick visit to Port Grimaud.

We also took the short drive to Port Grimaud, to visit this small but new harbour town built in what was once marshland, but is now row after row of condos and homes built in a web of jetties to allow the homes to anchor their boats at their doorsteps. Of course, we would have rather spend our time on the beach, but with bad weather, Grimaud was a nice alternative.

... relies on return customers for business, these places will always have new customers. Even if they serve awful food and neglect their patrons there will always be new people tomorrow. We arrived and sat down. The waitress gave us a menu and left. We already knew what we wanted: The meal being advertised on the sign by the door but we killed time looking at the menu anyways. A million years later the waitress returned and asked what we wanted. We told her we wanted the deal on the ...

... worry, the sex shop is still up and running across the street... so Tuesday afternoon I was off to Nice! The train ride was beautiful and I enjoyed every second of it! That night France played Spain in the world cup and France won and total chaos erupted in the city...I mean it, they were tear gassing people, everyone was jumping on cars, blowing horns, yelling...it was madness according to my rommates...I ...

... adequate accommodation, and I felt quite comfortable. The first full day was taken up exploring well known haunts, the flower market and the general shopping area. After a quick meal, I headed for the Arenas, a multi park which house a wonderful botanical garden and a mini zoo. This time of the year it was very crowded, overrun with families an their young siblings. I suspect that the reason for the big turnout was the remarkable weather. Thursday I headed for San Remo in ...

LE MISTRAL!

... as hell but whatever. I was swimming in deep water with waves at least 3 feet over my head and was just thinking, hm, I'm tired, when a wave 4 ft OVER my head actually broke on top of me! Oh la la. Clearly I lived. I swam out, choking and ****** and was standing about knee-high clearing saltwater from my sinuses when the sand and water around me sucked (schluck!) back quick and hard. I was just thinking 'oh ****' when a six foot wave knocked me into the pebbles ...
