        ... to enjoy climbing through the pine trees and unusual shrubbery which gives way to, a view at almost every turn. Here you find all the old fortifications. All along this walk you are reminded of past conquests ancient and modern. The most obvious being WW2 German gun posts.         ... or dangerous swimming conditions. I still managed to play beach tennis with Marcus and Amy but both Jane and I skipped the swimming. Even the children tried out the sea but only managed a few minutes as the wind makes it feel freezing. At least Jane got what she came for, topping up her tan.         ... pools. as with point 3, these too are not just food, once again they are pretty beyond belief. At 10 in the morning, having just gorged on pain au chocolat, pain au raisin and a side of chocolat chaud, I start to salivate for paella. 'Go on' says David 'We can always have an early lunch'. Boy do I love my husband.

        So my inner teenager is alive and well and she says (most humbly)... 'Sorry Mum, you are right again. I do want to be French'.

        ... we discovered that the coast road was faster than the inland freeway by about 1 hour. Long and boring trip but on arrival we were glad to unpack and let the kids enjoy the swimming pool for the evening. At night the mossies are so bad that nearly the all bottle of Aerogard had to be used to protect the kids. We need to find something to be able to sleep in ...
