Day 3 of relaxing on the shores of the Med on the island of Elba, and....damn it's been tough....!
We have had to walk the 500m to the local village and buy some groceries, and have had a swim every 30 mins, ..and surprising how much colder the water is than yesterday, for no apparent was a warm night, yet today the water must be 2or 3 deg ...

... was beautiful. Lit a candle for my mom and dad - which I've been doing at each church. Met Mark, Judy and Colette in Casciano (the small town nearest our villa) for dinner. The restaurant didn't open till 19:30 though so we bought some playing cards and went to a bar to drink and play hearts. Then on to dinner which was really good ...

Today was a "just hanging day" - we didn't even leave the villa. The weather vacillated between sunny and sprinkling. We spent time by the pool enjoying the sun and when it rained we played cards and did laundry. ... and retraced our steps. What should have taken 45 minutes ended up taking around 3 hours. Signage is not an Italian strong point!

Wednesday was another fine day, and as we had walked so far the previous day we decided to go for a drive. First port of call was Pomarance. We did a quick walk up to the centre of town before returning to the supermarket to buy a few more supplies. Guess what? It was closed.
