We started the day with a hot chocolate in Bohinjska Bistrica while the cloud cleared. We sat outside, the sun was lovely! Then we went hiking towards Črna prst (1844m). We didn't go to the summit as the track was hard to navigate. Instead we walked a lovely loop along the river, through beautiful green rolling hills, and past a waterfall. Clear blue skies and very cold! We got ready to ride then drove to find somewhere to park for the day. Not an easy task in a touristy town like this! Anyway, we found a spot about 5km away in Bohinjska Bela, en route to lake Bohinj. We took Mats "short cut", aka wet, gravel, muddy, soggy autumn leaves, steep gradient.. For about 20km through the Slovenian national park with no map then realising we were going in a circle ...
... the laptop, then headed in to town to find some wifi. We walked via the church and castle. The sun came out momentarily! But not for long; the wind picked up and it poured. We found a bar to have a beer while we applied for more volunteer work in Italy. The evening cleared and we had a lovely stroll around the lake back to Percy. We're parked at the rowing boat sheds. We cooked up chilli con carne to warm ...
... water! However after a lot of walking through fallen leaves and dense forest our track came to an abrupt end and we realised that we had taken a slightly wrong turn! After the slight hour detour (!), we made it back on track, up the right side of the river and eventually reached the Slap we were looking for - a tiring find but worth the effort! With some light still left, we powered home, hoping to stop in at Ribcev Laz ...
... the wine with swords...awesome. Since it was a beautiful day with the temperature being in the 50's we decided to sun bathe with our wine and take in the view. After the long trek up, we were forced to climb back down where we spilt up to have some lunch! A few of us went to a chines restaurant, which was to die for, knowing we had an authentic slovenian dinner ahead.Our awesome tour guides threw us a little party with all sorts of wine and champagne.
