    Today we awoke to a great breakfast in the hotel, complete with eggs and bacon which we were not expecting. Shortly afterwards, we boarded the bus for Rothenburg. On the way there, we were debriefed on all of the optional excursions of which we decided to do most of them to enhance this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

    ... city was saved. To help rebuild the city, a world-wide campaign was started for donations to support rebuilding the city and the wall, and even today, donations of $1000 euro can be made to maintain one meter of wall annually. What a way to make history real for all of us!

    The next morning, we headed back into town and took a tour of the Medieval Crime and Punishment, which should have been called the Torture Museum! ...

This has certainly been the right season for travel spring flowers are in full bloom everywhere and the park was filled with flower beds of tulips and cottage flowers. Quite lovely!     ... band but actually a torture device, consisting of an iron cabinet with a hinged front and spike-covered interior, sufficiently tall to enclose a human being. There was even a cage in which they put bakers in that made their bread too small and dipped them in the river. The museum was fascinating and disturbing. We enjoyed it.
