today. The driver and tour guide would not have a bar of this, we told them to
ring someone to confirm our argument, they gave us a telephone number to ring.
We responded by saying no, you ring. He did and we got the all clear. Phew,
hard work that, dealing Germans who spoke very little English. Another great
tour on the bus, and really worth fighting for, glad we did! ...

Driving into Hamburg, grateful for TT's direction. Paul had pre-booked a hotel with parking, so able to unload our bags in the luxury of a covered car park with lift. The benefits of a Holiday Inn as oppossed to a cute hotel in the historic centre! Technically, we were close to the centre of town, but it would appear that the centre is quite scattered along the various waterways.

Luneburg

... raised the mast on one of the cogs moored in a canal off the Ilmenau River. The Stintmarkt, old harbour, has now become a mecca for cafes and bars, much to the delight of both the tourist population and resident students, especially on sunny days and balmy evenings. The mill race continues to funnel water through its channels, under the old mills which have now been refurbished.
