    ... drove; it's "Germany's Medieval heartland"). We had a good chuckle because it doesn't seem to matter where we go, Joe always finds the end of some road! From there, we headed to the banks of the Lech River and viewed the area where rafters and fishermen lived and worked. Interestingly, Mr. Steve's book pointed out that rafters in the 1500's would take cargo from Italy on it's way to Germany. They'd build massive rafts here and take goods and people to Augsburg! ...

    ... finished this tour, we took another VERY steep 10-minute hike up to Mary's Bridge, which was built nearly 100 years ago (it has been updated since so it's safe but it does give on the wooden planks a bit). The bridge was originally build for Ludwig's mother, as she loved to be outdoors and her spouse didn't think it was ladylike but made sure she was safe while she was out and about.     ... t be too careful. 30,000 police were bought in from across the boarder in Germany & Italy. Once through the barriers were proceeded into the country settlement of Seefeld a beautiful place. A short walk & we boarded our buggy for a ride through the woods (1hr). So peaceful & a nice change from walking,walking,walking.     ... of the castle, one that most people wouldn't get and then walked back into town, grabbed a blueberry muffin, pretzel and water and heard around the lake. Half way, stopped to have lunch and admire the beautiful landscape. A few other people walking around. German couple from Stuttgart tell me, while hiking thru forest next to lake, that's it's so nice not to hear or see any Chinese or Japanese. ...

    ... for about an hour and went to Garmisch for lunch. The soup is sour and salty tomato soup. Salad with thousand island dressing. Fish and potato (good). Chocolate mousse dessert is alright.
