... with the animals until sometime on Saturday.

Today I signed up for the Mountaineer Gym, a big exercise center on post. I see they have yoga class for FREE!!! so you'd better believe I'll be doing that. Lots of good classes for free. Okay, back to the dissertation. Enjoy the photos!

Hannah is her name and she is our nextdoor neighbor in addition to our landlord. Slight of build and very friendly, Hannah lives alone but has frequent company. When I showed up with the Heidelbeeren Pie (blueberry pie) she invited me in to enjoy it with her and her daughter, who was asleep on the couch with her little dog, Bobby. "Eating and sleeping on a Sunday ...
Mayweilerhof, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany byron_and_tracy... on infinitely upward. It looked genuinely magical, like something out of a Tolkein book. Winding around the low mountain (I would classify it as a 'cerro' in Spanish, since I don't know what to call it in English) we fianally arrived to an enormous old school house that had been converted into an antique store. The tiny town was called Schneeweiderhof and you might have a difficult time locating it on even a detailed map. But thanks to this blog you can see pictures of it ...

My wife introduced us a little over a week ago and cutely skipped off for us to become acquainted. It takes a little convincing to get him to go along with the plans I make on any given day, but he inevitably acquiesces in my decree and comes along. This morning we took a trip together, which I'll write about in short order.
Baumholder, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany byron_and_tracy... t like the act of learning on the job when it's something that could easily be €o$tly or dangerous.

Driving in Germany, I learn, is actually pretty similar to driving in the United States in many ways, but there are just enough differences (for example, right-of-way rules) to make it an undesirable experience, at first. A third and final reason I was somewhat dreading going to the Housing ...

Kaiserslautern, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany elli78... his job, his family, hospitalityclub, (he offered a cigarette, continued) where I was going, why I was going to Lithuania etc. He ended up dropping me off at a very convenient location that was much closer than Birkenfeld. He dropped me off at the Ramstein resthouse; about 20km from Kaiserslautern. I had been here many times last year with Alex because it is the way to the autobahn from Landstuhl. I didn't know how close I was to the trainstation or I wouldn't have ...
Kaiserslautern, Germany amullett... take full advantage of being in such a great place on such a great day because of the previous night as well as my early flight the next day. Even so, when it was time to go out to celebrate, I was ready. First we went to a Thai restaurant for dinner and then back to Thursty's to meet up with some of Jason's friends. Overall it was a pretty tame night. We sat around drinking green drinks and left fairly early. I would ...
Kaiserslautern, Germany shaunnaMeghaan and I have very few hard and fast rules. One of them is that anytime you're at a party with inflatable kangaroos, its a good time. I had tried, with no avail, to obtain World Cup tickets through the first 3 rounds of the FIFA lottery (tagline - No Chance in Hell). Finally in the last lottery I was allocated 4 tickets for a 2nd round game in Kaiserslautern, a small town in SouthWest Germany. The game would match the winner of the US group ...
Kaiserslautern, Germany the_mcdonoughs... were stoked to be there. Luckily, Marnie managed to swap with the guy next to me, as his mates were all sitting next to Marnie. Yaaay!! The atmosphere at the stadium was awesome, with non-stop singing from the sea of gold at our end. Every time the Italian fans tried to sing their one chant "I-TAL-IA, I-TAL-IA", we shouted them down until they shut up. The game itself was great, with Australia totally dominating possession, but Italy looking more potent on the break. With few ...
