... street in Hakata comprised of some 130 shops. We found some interesting shops where we bought some small Hakata type ornaments as well as an art print at at paper shop. We had our lunch at the shopping arcade at LA Hamburger shop. We had burgers, fries, beer, and coffee - an all-American meal. We made a short stop at a nearby shrine called Kushida Shrine. The Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival a renowned summer event in Hakata is dedicated to this shrine. Next ...

Yanagawa City/ Dazaifu

... on the way back to stop in a place called Dazaifu. It is famous for a beautiful shrine as well as a popular sweet - a type of baked mochi filled with red bean paste. We stopped for some ice coffee and green tea and some mochi, then browsed through a few local souvenir shops. We rode the train back to Fukuoka, arriving back after 6 pm. We said goodbye to Kazuko who took the bus to her home while Haruyo and the 3 of us took a different bus back to Hakata ...

The building is now the Saga Castle History Museum and information is provided (in English too) outlining the function of each room and area. Other parts of the museum are used to detail the accomplishments of Saga during the Late Edo period and the Imperial Restoration, as well as introducing the prominent people in Saga at that time, the pioneers of modern Japan.

... the bus drivers here is even higher than before.

In no time at all, we were happily ensconsed in our hotel room and I have written up the blog to let you all know, we have arrived safely.

Lots of washing and things to do, so unlikely to be much on the blog for a day or two. I am adding a few pictures we took this morning from the bus, because the sun was shining and it looked so nice.

... inn) place at Ito about an hour and a half south of Tokyo that had space, happy days I booked up a place in Tokyo for a week and then this place which got me around Golden week, too long in Tokyo for my liking really but beggars can't be choosers eh?
