After spending yesterday relaxing and allowing our friends to recover from jet lag, we decided to spend today exploring the nearby town of Makarska. We had to shuttle the two families because, at this point, we only had one car, so once all eight of us were in the town, we walked along the waterfront. Such a pretty town.

We had to laugh at the statue dedicated to tourists. As you can see from the picture, you can tell what part ...

They also make their own vinegar, grow their own produce for the restaurant, make their own special sweet liqueurs from their fruits n herbs and specialize in a unique method of cooking fish, lobster, goat and wild boar called "cooking under the bell". The owner/chef is also host to diners and guests. After yet another ...

Subtext, a chicken yet again. Probably for the best as he is not into swimming and a repeat of the performance it took for him to slowly get ...

... as they had many small restaurants with cheap dining right on the beach front. By time we got there the sun was just setting, producing a hearty orange glow across the water right outside our restaurant Kantun. After a pretty decent meal of meat and Croatian grilled and stuffed squid, we headed back to the boat to continue to add to the bar tab and get ready for 'rave in a cave' at club deep.

With everyone dressed as either pirates, sailors or captains we ...

    Party island

A travel blog entry by mattadore on Jul 08, 2013

This morning we had a feast for breakfast. Cereal, breads, scrambled eggs. Great start to the day. We had another very casual morning and went for a bit of a walk around the town. The sun was blazing hot even by 9am. We eventually left Stari Grad, around midday, the last MedSailors yacht to leave. We are certainly living on Croatian time. We motored for an hour, sunbathing and reading on the deck the whole way. We pulled into a beautiful ...
