... track levelled out and we walked on and into a tiny village with a church and a few houses. Why it was there, or who used it was hard to determine as there was harly a soul in sight and no shops. However it was quite pretty and we visited the church, made friends with a few stray dogs (one looked just like Terry the Terrior) and started back down. Going down wasn't much better and our knees were soon quite sore from all the jarring ...

... one of the riders went right over his handle bars and had to be attended to and recovered by the ambulance that was following at the rear. After they had gone by we continued our assault on the col. As we got to the top we met Don and Sue, who had managed to find an excellent vantage point to watch the race go by. Forgot to mention that just after our descent from the first col, Aspin, I had a flat in one of my brand new tires. The road had been liberally coated ...

... I took a walk around town that ended at the restaurant just across the bridge from the hotel. We weren't expecting to get in somewhere for dinner until even later than we'd been used to in France, but at quarter after 7pm they said they'd take us. I crossed the bridge to where the gang was still hanging out an informed them of this, and almost immediately nearly everyone came over to the restaurant.

It was another big, fun group dinner on ...
