Well it didn't take long and we were once again in the Peugeot doing 130kph. The 630 km trip to Soulan in the Pyrenees would go quick at this pace, so would our coins. Those nasty toll machines seemed to be getting more greedy by the kilometer.
These next couple of nights hadn't been pre-booked, so the planned (or not so planned) intention was to "wing" it.

On arrival at the skiing resort town of Saint- Larry Soulan we were having ...

Then down south of Lourdes to Soulom. I had a faint suspicion that this might not be a good aire - there was no cross reference with the 'Aires de Services' book. Nowadays the road surface is smooth and the wildlife much tamer, but the length and ...

... Arrived at our hotel - an old monastery. It was massive. Big disappointment was the extra charge for using the spa. This was the sole reason we booked it. Charge €30 each for 1 hour!!!!! Robbery. It didn't say this when we booked. I feel a complaint coming on. Restaurant expensive too. We drove down to the town for dinner. Only 5 mins away. Off to Sos del Rey Catolico. SPAIN. Not a clue about this area but the old mediaeval town looks nice. Good old ...

... started to indicate it was lunch time so we pulled over to a roadside gas station, brewed a pot of Java, bought a map of France and both agreed Vielha was our destination in sight. We could get a room there, have a rest day tomorrow and spend some time exploring the sites on foot instead of 2 wheels. I did not know what was in store for me. The weather turned to rain, the temperatures dropped and the hill climb continued. I put my head down and continued ...
