After soaking in all the fresh air and clean water and powder skiing we could in 10 days, (it was so nice to see the kids detached from electronic devices!), we headed home to Lyon and to our new flat, leaving the snow and a little Christmas magic behind us.

Do you know what we got for Christmas this year? We got fat. Extra kilograms, additional centimeters to the waist, hips and thighs...hells did we enjoy it! Of course weight gain was not at the top of our Santa wish list nor our ultimate goal of a week 'skiing' in the French Alps. Though when the local 'Spar' supermarket kindly sells you two euro french champagne (close relative of Moet) delicious jamon, cambert cheese and freshly baked baguettes it ...

We've left Lourmarin with some sorrow, but soon perked up when we got into the Alps. The weather had been okay in Paris, I mention the weather as I was hoping it was going to be good so that we'd see the impressive French/Italian Alps. As we headed past the flat agricultural fields of France the clouds started showing up, last year we'd been lucky to see how impressive the alps were but I had a feeling we werent going to be so lucky this time. ... meandering north through France over the next 3 weeks. So,.. up the Autostrada it was,. headed for Turin. We made excellent time and realised that we could comfortably get to the Tunnel of Frejus today,.. and start our 'French Meander' a day or two earlier.
