... town feel of banff or lake louise. It was cool at first but us Canadians definitely didn't take long to adjust to the coolness. It was nice to be in a town with fresh air...away from the exhaust fumes and crazy hustle and bustle of city life. So we began our walk...it seemed a little far at the time, but we ended up finding it no problem and a bank on the way...didn't take too long really to get to the hostel. We dropped our bags off and ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland kkb-myadventure... the name). We were told it was really pretty up there and the shoppin was good... well they had one thing right... it was really pretty, but the shoppin was non existent... be that it was november and in between busy seasons everything was closed... but it was still fun to walk around and take some pictures!
We got back in the afternoon, we went and got some groceries and made a wicked stir-fry for dinner and had an early night ...
... the "Her Majesty's Secret Service" movie in the late 60's.
In case you weren't a fan, they had plenty of notifications of this fact to let you know.
In spite of it being from a package mix, I can tell you that it will likely go down as being the most memorable hot chocolate I ever had at Piz Gloria. Actually make that hot chocolate mixed with Grand Marnier. Hey, the Swiss felt the restaurant needed revolving and I felt the ...
... and fireworks tonight. Musicians started the parade and the crowd followed thru the streets. Children carried special lanterns. Our family would have made quite a statement. It seems as if most families only have two children. How boring-ha ha! This afternoon, several kids set off fireworks in the streets. They are noisy without the pretty sparks. It spooks the dogs and they start barking. This holiday is like ...
Wengen, Swiss Alps, Switzerland chrisbriley... way to the middle of town where we heard some live music. Following the sounds we arrived at a peculiar ensemble of young men performing an oddly censored adult act for a crowd of parents and their children (one of the members shredded on his ukelele). Ate sausages and hamburgers from a vendor. Walked back to Balmer's, planned for a long nights sleep, met a Brazilian hip-hop aficiando who could keep up with Kevin's knowledge. 26th - got up early for canyoning, ate ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland treeoche... struck up a lengthy conversation. She asked if we had a car, we said no, and she asked if we would like to have her show us around to places that are not reached by train. We agreed at 5:00 pm the next day. Charlie and I had a major hike that next day and lost track of time and how long it would take to get back to Lauterbrunnen. Arriving at the hotel a 4:55 pm, we showered and were ready by 5:00. Angie showed up, took us around the area and we treated for dinner on a ...
Wengen, Swiss Alps, Switzerland nedk... the hiking poles, essential for them 10 degree paved inclines. This isn't the first time I have noticed this as I remember commenting on it in Korea. As for Meg and I? Well, we had our sandals, shorts, tops, sunglasses and a day-bag between us for our camera, camcorder and our must-not-leave-that-out-of-sight items such as passports, credit cards and cash. I guess we're lucky a sudden swell didn't roll in from the north and trap us. Yep, dodged a ...
Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland byrnedm... because the beds were so comfy and the view was so fantastic. The sun was shining and the sky was blue making for crystal clear views of the mountains. The BOSS and I poured over brochures to decide what to do among the fifty available activities. The BOSS was rather keen to try paragliding, but not so keen to test the freezing waters of the canyon swimming. The trip up to the top of Jungfrau cost approximately AUD$200 each so we ...
Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland scootergalYHA, Interlaken, Switzerland Ricki: Yet more stunning scenery today. We left Montreux and took the Panoramic Train to Interlaken, 3 hours of wending our way through rocky mountains covered in autumn colours, and deep deep valleys with raging rivers at the very bottom (way way down there). But in my enthusiasm I get ahead of myself. Jenni was first up this morning - as she had warned us, she is an early ...
