8-28: Arrived at the Central Station around 6:00 p.m. What a beautiful building. Interesting thing we read is that the art is supposed to make a person feel that a powerful state is a good thing (fascist built in 1931).

After reading about pickpockets, we were a little concerned and apprehensive, but everything was great; no evidence of …

London to Milan

A travel blog entry by gandablog

Woke up early, as has been our want over recent days, and took the train to Gatwick. At the airport it was just as well that we had plenty of time because Mum felt very weak for a period and was unable to go on but recovered after sitting for a while. Do not know what the problem was. Perhaps just a combination of jet lag and stress or perhaps …

We arrived in Milan dead tried after another marathon flight from Toronto (with a stop in Germany for about an hour). Unfortunately it was only 8 AM requiring us to gut it out to try to make it to evening. Our hotel, Hotel Berna, was an easy walk from the train station (once we figured out the map) and was everything we could want in a hotel, a …

This was our first flight ever with Ryanair and for the price we paid I thought it was reasonable, we departed on time and also arrived a bit early which was great. The only annoying thing for any girl is that you need to fit your handbag into the hand luggage as it counts as hand luggage and you only allowed to bring one piece, but I think I am …

Shopping queen Milan!

A travel blog entry by loznwayne2euro

Milan was a last minute choice for us to visit as we just needed a stop over that easily connected to London. We stayed at a great hotel that had a free mini bar and snacks in the bar all day so we actually spent a lot of time in the hotel.
We walked along the 'Corso Buenos Aires' which is one of the longest shopping streets in Europe, given …

    Hotel Berna--FANTASTIC!

We were greeted by the most hospitable people; the staff is remarkably friendly and helpful. Our room was in the building across the street from the main hotel, and the security was very impressive-double secure doors at entry; cameras in hallway. The room wasn't large but it was very comfortable, extremely clean, nice large bathroom. Superb breakfast--so many choices; this was the best breakfast buffet of the 11 hotels we stayed in during our 3-week trip through northern Italy and Switzerland! Close easy walk from the Central Train Station. We did walk to the restaurants at night; there were some homeless people on the side streets sometimes wanting a handout, but never aggressive. Felt perfectly safe. Would definitely stay here again.

    Perfectly located

We had a double room for 55 euros without breakfast, an incredible price for a 4**** hotel , room size according european standards. Close to train /metro and just a 20 minutes nice walk to "duomo"(Milan's Cathedral).

it is a Great choice, We highly recommend it even paying 100 euros

The Berna is a convenient friendly hotel in Milan

    from

We had two triple rooms which were very clean, modern and of adequate size. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. The hotel is very convenient. It was no more than a 5 minute walk to the train station, and the metro was a 3 minute walk. The metro is only 4 stops (5 minutes) away from the city centre (Duomo, Galleria, etc.). The buffet breakfast was one of the best I have had in Europe. A lot of selections at the breakfast buffet, and not the least was a bowl of Toblerone chocolates which my 11 yr son loved. They also had nice food at the bar in the evening, which we even used for dinner one night when it was too rainy to go out. I definitely would stay at this hotel on a return trip to Milan.

    Will definitely stay here again!

This hotel is great - we paid 99euro for a double and it's worth ever cent of it. the room is spacious (by italian standard). the staff is very friendly and helpful (also with a smile). the breadfast is great - one of the best i have experienced in italy - it has eggs and bacons, a variety of fruits, breads and rolls, salad...etc. it also provides internet service and is only 3 min walk from the main train station.

    Lovely place

    from

I really liked staying at the hotel berna. the reception were friendly, great breakfast, plenty room in the bathroom which is not always good in some hotels in italy. easy walking distance to trains and buses to go to airport, eating places easy as well. i recommend this hotel highly.
