      THE CASTLE

... were incredibly lavish and luxurious, with grandeur on a scale I've never seen before. We then properly surveyed the castle from the outside. It had stopped snowing and the sky had turned a blotchy pink/purple/grey colour with patches of blue trying to fight through. The walking trail to the closest lookout had been closed and gated shut due to the heavy snowfall, but we like scores of other tourists skirted the ...

      To Fussen

... on trains, it's wonderfully relaxing! Thankfully there was a WC on this train but it was primitive. I've seen nicer long drop toilets in the middle of nowhere than the one on that train! We arrived in Fussen in the evening. It's a really cute looking place! There was quite a bit of snow on the ground which made for a nice walk to the supermarket to stock up on essentials before a nice quiet night in our lovely ...

Tomorrow we have a few spots to visit along with the English Gardens and I want to have a look at the BMW museum perhaps on Sunday. Later in the week we have more family UK Hudd's arriving in Munich for a couple of days carrying out some Hofbräuhaus auditing :) Sorry this is so short, but it's ...

... just spinning and they weren't moving anymore.

At this point we really wished we had snow chains! We kept going anyway and pulled over at a servo to see if they sold them (no luck) so we kept going. It was mostly on the Autobahn the rest of the way so we figured it should be fine. We then encountered what is known here as a Stau - basically a huge traffic jam which backs up for ages. The road was very snowy and ...

... on the way into Fussen to take photos of the Alps & Schloss Neuschwanstein. It is a spectacular sight perched high in the mountain tops.

We drive into Schwangau to find accomodation. We head to the information centre & Clint rings some places on the accomodation board. He finds us a gorgeous guest house on the outskirts of town. We were very comfortable. We ate at a nearby restuarant for dinner & slept well in our very comfortable beds.
