... are still many columns as well as some interesting mosaics. Even with what remains, there is enough to get a good idea of what the island would have been like in its heyday. The best know sculptures on the island are a row of lions.
We anchored within the Bay of Delos and returned in the afternoon for lunch aboard. After we finished exploring the island, we boarded the yacht and returned to Mykonos for the evening. We went to shore and found a ...
It’s a little cool outside for a party island that is famous for its nude beaches and all-night dance clubs. This is the first time that I wished we were visiting Greece during the tourist season since the town almost feels empty and the beaches deserted.
This is ...
... and 35 and 40." It very well could be the vacation and the cruise-effect but I really do feel like I'm a little more zen about all things life and stress-related.
Plus I've decided 2012 is legit. Maybe not 2012 exactly, but for sure the idea that we are here and then we're gone. You can't not realize and appreciate that fact walking around all of these antiquities. You don't get to plan for the end, or for the demise of a 'people'. If you could, all these ...
... caparisoned as is the rest of this beautiful ship. The quality of the finish, the decorations, artwork, statues, floral arrangements, panelling and the facilities are superb. There is an upmarket restaurant called the Pinnacle Grill which we will visit at some stage but there one has to pay ($20 each), whereas in other restaurants on the rest of the ship food is free, abundant and delicious.
Mediterranean Sea, Greece karana... in that item.
Apparently, there were only a few taxi's on the island and one wonders why anyone would take one when two large cruise ships were in town. You see, not only was our ship, the Ruby Princess, carrying 3,100 passengers in port but the Celebrity cruise ship was also in port. There were so many people around the port area that taxi's virtually couldn't move more than a few inches a minute. Hope ...
... me on it rather than making sure she ate well, is that selfish of me? There was a big group planning to go out that night, even Lisa was going to come with us. I knew Heather wouldn't get a chance to eat much while working till 12am so I promised that I would bring her back some pizza. At the restaurant I ordered a pizza that she would like and before it arrived I filled up on bread meaning I could only eat a few slices of Pizza and therefore had lots to bring ...
Paros, Cyclades, Greece talamarko... it out with the giant waves about 1 km offshore - it looks horrible. None of us can imagine being out in this and we hope they make a safe harbour soon - although there's no safe harbour along this coast until you get up to Lautra and that's miles from where this poor yacht is!! Since we have missed lunch on the Gemini again, Laurella prepares us dinner instead and we are very happy to be on our safe, warm home in the Lautra port. 23 Oct - The winds die during the night, the day ...
Kythnos, Greece tandc2007... when he saw we were with him. It was soo funny. It looked like the guy was trying to snuggle with Post hahahah. Post didnt even know it hahahhha. The second night we decided not to go out because the party didnt start till 4 am. We woke up really early to take advantage of the day so by 3 am we were exhausted already. During the day the clubs on the beach were awesome so i prefered to go there all day instead of missing it to party late at night. I already went to Ibiza, so ...
Mykonos, Greece bfaldowski... almost vertically from the sea, the whitewashed villages perched along the top. "Ok," I thought, "This is why I came on this trip." A cable car took us up to Fira, the capital and largest town on the island. You can also walk up 500 steps or hire a donkey to ride up to the top. Ed and Diane actually took the donkeys up, but regretted it later on. (I figured it was hot, the donkeys would smell, you probably had to dodge tourists coming down, not to mention donkey ...
Santorini, Greece marinoHow on Earth did I get to be so lucky?
My family and I went on a cruise of the Greek Islands. We ate a lot, got sea sick once, soaked up the sun, and absorbed the classically beautiful white and blue colours on the islands. There weren't very much ship activities that my sister and I were interested in but Allyson and I did win a bingo game! Mykonos was by far our favorite island because of its beauty.
