A night out in Maastricht

... but it got a conversation started. They spoke excellent English and we talked about things from his house being repossessed, to my adventure, to her climbing (which was of note because she was in a wheelchair).
After 40 minutes or so I said goodbye and headed off as I needed to get back and make my bed before my room-mate went to bed if poss to avoid disturbing her. It was now about 830 and I decided I could take a few more photos on the ...

... are known as Ski-Resorts in early January. I'll keep an eye on the weather, but I am fairly sure that this is a stupid idea. So what I will now think about doing is head for a city in northern France (maybe Metz or Nancy) and catching a train to Dijon which is at the top of the Rhone valley. This would also have the happy coincidence of taking me past an awful lot of uphills - awesome - and put me in the south of France for christmas (maybe Lyon).
The plan then ...

I then had to drink special fluid, which I spent 2 hours drinking only to promptly vomit it back up, in order to have contrast dye put through my stomach and another CT scan. When this showed nothing, the doctors decided that maybe I had a lung embollism from so much flying, and ordered another CT with contrast dye, this time of my lungs, as well as an ECG to make sure my heart was OK ...

The next day the kids had to go back to school, so we decided to head into Maastricht and have a look around. I'll let Whitney tell you about Maastricht and get to the important stuff -dinner! Trees cooked us Bami for dinner, which is a delicious noodle meal that went prettyquickly.
The following day is was time to say goodbye, so we bid farewell to the kidlets before school and got dropped off at the station with our bellies ...

Most horrible restaurant ever in SPA Belgium

During our stay in Spa we had the most scary, horrible, unpleasant experience ever in a restaurant.

The restaurant to avoid is "Le Bouchon Gourmand", the owner does not hesitate to insult customers, lock them into the restaurant if there is a dispute on the bill, and claim more money than is due.

Lean Green gives up the ghost

After popping into and out of Germany, we were now back in Belgium. It was beginning to get a bit dark, and we still had at least 200 miles left to drive.

Gaz's motor was struggling, and threatening to overheat, so we stopped to let it cool down.

With the vehicles all decorated with stickers, we attracted a bit of attention, and a Belgian couple took our ...

We stopped at one point, because the roadbook wasn't very clear, at which point Gaz and Charlotte came up behind us. They had been left behind by the V8s, as they were in a Series vehicle, so we said we'd stick with them.
At this point, Kieran noticed a strange noise from our engine, which was duly investigated by James. It was diagnosed as the fan belt tensioning pulley. But we didn't do anything about it at the time.

After we picked our lunch items from the one-third of the supermarket aisles dedicated to groceries, Amber got side-tracked admiring the second third of the aisles, all dedicated to chocolate, while I went AWOL in the last third of the supermarket, eyeing off all the shelves stocked with beer.

We cycled back the way we came to return once again to The Netherlands ...

There is the hunting lodge, the sculpture park and the 2nd largest collection of Van Gogh paintings. It was a good place. Next stop was Amsterdam, once again. Being the tourists that we are, we went to the Heineken Brewery again !!!!! Then we needed to find an internet café. There were ...
