Day 5 - Over the hills to Thunersee

Waking expecting to hear the patter of rain on the tent, it was a nice surprise to hear the jingle jangle of distant cowbells instead. Despite their sleepy overtones I resisted the temptation to doze off again, and was rewarded with the views outside. The late ascent to the campsite had been worth it after all, with the valley and lake below sheathed in thick cloud whilst up high I was treated to a sunrise over the distant mountains.

I forgot to mention in my last blog but the first thing we bought after arriving in Switzerland was some Swiss chocolate of course! Today we had a great day on Lake Brienzersee. This place, I recall, was what first attracted ...

I think there could be a good business opportunity here, after all Switzerland is renowned for its chocolate and they do have licorice - although I suspect it is that nasty Dutch variety, toxic enough to strip your tongue after a big night out.
When I returned to my room I had room mates, a mother and daughter from the US - Dianne & Breeanna. Bree had just finished 3 months study ...

Had a leisurely morning as it is very overcast and both Terry and I had to pack ready for home tomorrow. After lunch decided to go and look at The Castle of Hunegg Hilterfingen which is another castle which overlooks Thun Lake. This Castle was built from 1861-1863 by the architect Heino Schmieden who was German. The interior of the Castle is ...
