One cannot circle so close and not visit Switzerland. Switzerland has always been close to my heart, my good friend Gavin lives there and we have spent many days snowboarding, exploring and mountain biking through the vast mountain ranges and beautiful scenery.

It was another incredible evening drive to a place called Hilterfingen, south of Bern. The sun was heading down as I drove through ...

We both agreed this was a definite “must do” for the area.

Lunch was taken at a relatively cheap (for Switzerland) café with small steak pies, cake and drinks at CHF 30 (I’ll let you work it out) BUT during our repast, firstly, the mountains suddenly became less visible, then invisible, then an almighty hailstorm came down (note to self: yes you brought the bag but make sure the waterproofs and umbrella are in it!) Waking expecting to hear the patter of rain on the tent, it was a nice surprise to hear the jingle jangle of distant cowbells instead. Despite their sleepy overtones I resisted the temptation to doze off again, and was rewarded with the views outside. The late ascent to the campsite had been worth it after all, with the valley and lake below sheathed in thick cloud whilst up high I was treated to a sunrise over the distant mountains.

... there our journey to Jungfrau began. We changed three trains to get to the top of Europe. The sights were spectacular and we all had a wonderful time. I will let the pictures talk for themselves. On the ride back we decided that we would get off at Burdegg and walk (hike) to the next station Gridelwald, Wow, I am sure we would have second thought if we knew how far the next station was, but we made it and ...
