Traveling from Chamonix to Lake Annecy we went through some breathtaking views through the Alps. The city is quite gorgeous, a favorite Lakeside destination for French families in summer. After a walk through 'Little Venice' taking the sights of a town voted the most beautiful in France, i had a lovely lunch of the local (from Nice) Niçoise salad in a central location before taking the one hour boat trip on the lake. ... breath taking place. Small but so memorable. The road clings right on the vertical cliffs, lean over at your peril! It was quite a shock to us both as we came round the southern corner. To top it off, the internet was good and we saw Geelong overpower Port Adelaide!

... area. If I'm honest, it looked like some of the bleakest parts of the Rhondda valley. Dark, grimy, houses just like in South Wales. But in between, glorious glimpses of the bluest lakes within deep gorges. The weather has been disappointing, but we can't hope to have wall to wall sunshine. It snowed last night on the tops of the mountains, and around the lake, the snow line is very low. It is forecast for tonight! The wind is great for the sailors and ...

... conned by a girl offering what looked like a petition for disabled to sign (you know, with illegible names, addresses and signatures), however she then pointed to a column which was donation so I gave her a Euro which didn't please her much. We do give regularly to charities of our choosing but I have my suspicions that this type just goes straight into the individual pocket?
There is a cable car up to the bastille (fort) which was very steep indeed but if it's held up ...
