After a trip to Colmar France, we stopped at the midway point back home at Baden Baden. We had afternoon tea at the hotel and then explored the Casino, Theater, and beautiful surroundings. We spent the afternoon relaxing at the Caracalla Therme Baths. One thing I've learned how to do since being in Europe is to disconnect on the weekends and enjoy life and Baden Baden is the place to do it.

After an excursion in Pfortzeim yesterday to do some shopping and to check out the bike path, we found our way back to the city. It had been totally flattened during the war and was rebuilt. Only a few old buildings remain on the outskirts. We started off heading along the wrong river so, when we discovered our mistake, we headed off on a road route given to Lilli by a man from whom she had ...

Russ is driving again as Steve has problems with his left knee. Russ's cold has also refreshed and he is not the best. Leave Triberg and get to our hotel just outside Baden Baden at around 4.30pm. A bit of a slow trip as the traffic on ...

... a Saturday was quite amazing. This continued through the whole city and the roads were not jam packed with cars making the ambience much better.
There are plenty of the usual shopping areas but parks, green spaces and riverside quays abound. We decided to take the boat trip (approx 70 mins) which takes you round the old city, up to the area of the European Parliament and Court of Human Rights (how we love them ...

... in place. So we will believe the guide book! The road is windy and hilly and there was quite a lot of traffic, including numerous motorbikes and cyclists. At one stage we were followed by vehicle that looked like a Lotus race car with the driver and passenger wearing helmets. They soon zoomed past us never to be seen again. A stop for diesel was necessary and the sign said it was 32 degrees - so nice to be warm and again we were able to enjoy dinner outside ...
