Ausserbinn, Switzerland lesterenanne... spent in Gimmelwald would likely seem like an eternity. Unless those Gimmelwaldians are loose with the alcohol and their money in a card game.

We passed a barn and my friend ducked her head in to get a whiff and notified me that she loved the smell of barns. Now there's a little fact I wished I'd known in advance. The reason? Well, it just so happens that in many of the small Alpian villages you can actually pay to sleep in the ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland trockie... really helpful for my project.

On Saturday at 5:50 am I left my house to go to Interlaken for a girls weekend. I let my friends plan the trip, since I usually end up planning most stuff, which is how my weekend came to be as it was. My friends used this thing called "Couch Surfing" (it's a really interesting concept, worth taking a few minutes to look into), and traditionally when you couch surf you stay at someone's house for free. Well ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland chelseyineurope... and another day of biking around the entire city, we set off at midnight to drive on the Autobahn to Bern. So instead of spending the night on a sleeping train, we took turns driving and sleeping (thank you Alex for the wonderful neck pillow!).

We drove into Interlaken around 9, into GORGEOUS views of mountains and lakes (thanks Jess!!). Because we were pooped from almost no sleep, we spent most of the day sleeping ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland sofenjon... European charm from every living pore of its existance. The legendary Swiss service was very much in evidence at the hotel Spinne, and its comprehensive spa facilities, coupled with a well-fitted hotel room, and the delightful ski terrain surrounding the resort left me once again on a week-long buzz, where all the right elements for a downright fulfilling ski trip were already in place. I can't say on this occasion that I had much energy left on ...
Grindelwald, Swiss Alps, Switzerland jollyjetsetter... consisting of cheese, bread and potatoes and sled back down the mountain. Joe and Kim seemed to catch on quick and zoomed down the mountain. I on the other hand, struggled a bit, lost my sled a couple times, but finally made it down the mountain. Overall, we had a fun few days hanging out in the Alps. Grindelwald is an awesome place and I would definitely like to go back sometime.
Grindelwald, Switzerland karli... over the peaks. There is a loud explosion which ricochets around the bowl they create, presumably a controlled avalanche in the making, sure gets the campers up for the day. We head off on the bus into town and head up to Murren 1654 meters up via a bus, train and cable car. It's getting more overcast and the mist is starting to roll down the mountains, pray for no rain as we only have a piddly single brolly to share. Our aim is the Schilthorn which is 2971 meters up but ...
Interlaken, Switzerland rob.jenn... sculpter. That was our fun for the night at the monument. We then went back to the hostel and hung out with some lame people until two super cute girls came in. We started up a conversation with them and ended up going out on the town with the two hottest women at the hostel. We wandered around and met some cool locals and had the best night we have had in Europe. Cute girls, crazy locals, beautiful town and somehow we ended up in ...
Lucerne, Switzerland ericrgHello, Well here I am again in the space of minutes!!!! So what else has been going down in the land of Sheff (or James for my families use). Well quite a bit actually, to start with I had to take a train journey to Geneva airport from where I live, which takes about 3 hours, now I know I banged on about how good the trains are here compared to Britain but it really is a serious point. I had to catch 3 separate trains ...
Grindelwald, Switzerland sheffster... room. After a brief nap, we wandered around Interlaken, then took lunch by the river. We hiked to Thunersee and back - quite a distance, especially since we didn't know where we were going. Walked to Ian's about 20.00h. Monika joined us briefly. Ian took Paul and I to a pizza place for dinner. All tired.
