... it is being held on the island of Lido at the venue where they hold the Venice Film Festival. After some serious conferencing (10 mins tops) we decided to have a spot of breakfast at the very glam Hotel Excelsior next door. Superb buffet brekkie (boys you would have loved it). Lots of gold, breasts and big hair from all the Italians on their weekend getaways.

We wound through quiet canals, and our gondolier sang beautifully throughout, stopping occasionally to point out key sites, like the church of San Lorenzo where Marco Polo is buried. I noticed more people using cameras, so I indiscreetly took more myself of the lower levels of the church.
We then headed to the Santa Maria Della salute church (St Mary of health). It was built in the 1600's as an offering to keep people safe from the plague.
The church is a recognizable landmark at the entrance of the Grand Canal.

Woke up at 7am ready for an early start. Feeling sluggish as I didn't have a very good nights sleep. Luckily both Barry and Ben had one. Didn't leave home until 9 - walked to the train station- found our way there thanks to Barry's navigation. Really enjoyed the walk as there were so many alleys and shops to look at along the way and it is a great way to further explore the city of Padova.
