... the cold, we were also able to empty the water and toilet and fill with fresh water. We decided to have lunch before setting off again. as soon as we turned away from the lake the houses had a more alpine feel. Before long the rain changed to snow. As we climbed the snow became deeper, the ploughs were doing a good job at keeping the road clear. We passed quite a few vehicles that had stopped to put on their snow chains, it's compulsory ...

... Swiss culture. There's some Heidi tourism here-and the town itself does have a small "old town" with winding alleys and a cool castle, which I wander around a couple of times. Castles are pretty rare in Switzerland. I guess you could say the whole country is a natural castle. There's a maps showing the official "Heidi house" way up the mountain. Reluctantly I opt to skip it... but I do pass the Heidi fields ...
