After a long and tiring journey we arrived at our campsite. Weather is lovely so went for an uphill walk in the evening. Just enjoying a beer in the bar now. Day by the pool tomorrow me thinks. The Puy de Dome district is an area of extinct volcanoes in the southern part of France. We stayed at a village perched on the side of a rocky steep hillside called Saint Nectaire. It is famous for its certain types of cheese and they had a cheese shop there to try it.

The Auvergne was one of my ‘wish list’ places to see. It is situated pretty much in the centre of France and is about as rural as you can get, reported to be the least populated region in Europe.
