... any wind for 90% of the crossing. The first day it poured down from the off nearly all day. With rain, comes wind (even I know that and I'm not a weatherman) and wind makes the sea quite rough - well actually VERY BLOODY ROUGH. But we battled forward waiting for this clear spell which didn't actually arrive until darkness fell around 11pm that night - the sea was still quite choppy but in the dark you can't tell because it's pitch black, so ...

... to cover it at around 6 knots on average, about two and a half days if all goes well. I will update the blog tonight so if after a week there as been no more updates of our progress we've probably been eaten by fish and the adventure ended somewhere in Biscay ! We joined Ted and Chris for farewell drinks at the 'Donegan' and hopefully we will catch up with them later in the year in the Med. Camaret has been lovely but the time is now right to move ...

... later, he came to look at the depth instrument and he is baffled as me why it reads correct depth on 2 instruments for a while then goes off ??? It's a visit from the Raymarine Man I think. It looks good for Friday to cross Biscay at present, Yoris and his family are also leaving for Spain on Friday and so is another British boat so at least someone else will be out there with us for 3 days, it's ...

    Full Day Foraging

First thing this morning we had to move the boat to another mooring on the outside quay due to a rally of yachties arriving - I don't like motoring in breezy weather, the boat is very difficult to steer but with the help of a couple of people we managed to get her alongside without any drama, but the motion is worse than being at sea - so no sleep tonight I'm guessing. The rest of the day we spent foraging in the bay, we found razor clams, cockles, mussels, lob worms and peeler crabs. ...
