ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.
Monaco, Monaco tilman... have an amazing view from Colline du Chateau. On saturday (November 28) we had sunshine and 19 degrees (end of November) and I was even swimming in the sea (15 gegrees), on sunday, November 29 we had rain and thunderstorms so that caused a delay of the plane of three hours. Best breakfast in town you find in "Les pains a tables" close to the market. Nice is a city IŽd love to visit once a year minimum.....
Nice, Provence, France tilman... upon me it feels very strange and somewhat daunting. But to my knowledge no one has ever died from teaching children so I am sure I will survive.... My Amazon book order should arrive soon to inspire me. I am really looking forward to discovering the 100 things you can do with a paper plate. Life is never going to be the same!!
More when I start travelling...
... of the retired variety... nothing wrong with that, but even they are thin on the ground. Of course this has a lot to do with the time of year we are travelling and there is a festival van circuit the young antipodian crowd do each year, which is not really our thing. So it is our own fault for choosing this time and this route. The end result is that we tend to pounce upon anyone speaking English in the near vicinity. We haven't scared anyone off yet so we mustn't seem too desperate.
Les Arcs sur Argens, Provence, France darrenhough74... the french 'boules', which is where lawn bowling originated from. One guy had a very interesting style of chucking his ball up into the air and it would magically land in the right spot and knock out the opponent's ball. We sampled some delicious macaroon dessert thingies, which the new Lindt chocolate store in Chaddy sells and they call them 'delice'. Well, whatever they were, they were awesome, the lady at the store cut up a whole lot and gave us mini taste tests, as there were many ...
Nice, Provence, France dan-and-dee... easily set their cameras up with the timer to take photos of us all. Tony and I both have new Nikon digital SLR cameras and weren’t having any luck working it out! Tony even got out his instruction book! A man standing near us offered to just take the photo for us so I gave him my camera.
I do not know what he was doing but all he needed to do was point and click. Instead he stood there twisting the lens and lifting the camera up and down and ...

The next day we had an early start to head to our first place in Italy, but before we left france we did stop at a french perfumery for a brief history tour and a spot of shopping!! Random factfor you... did you know that to produce 1kg of rose oil, it takes 3,500 tonnes of rose petals! no wonder french perfume is so bloody expensive!!
On that note, i'll leave it there... until italy!
Cheers
... t want to look at) were topless. Also most people there spoke English which was a big plus. Based on this information we realized that this might be a place where the girls have loose morals, and can actually communicate with us and we decided that finding the local hotspot was imperative. We talked to a guy at the desk of our hotel and found out that a bar called Wayne's was the place to go. Despite the obvious non-French name we ...
Nice, Provence, France jgreezy... from the ocean in a tuxedo, buuut my hopes were in vain. Anyway. When we first got to Montecarlo, we went on a guided tour lead by a little squeaky woman (she literally made squeaking noises after every few words, I don't know what her deal was.) We saw the "changing of the guards" at the Prince's Palace, walked through a cathedral, and enjoyed the views of fancy high-rise buildings lining the coast. I wish we could have spent a little more time there, but we had to fit ...
Nice, Provence, France hahn105... our good buddy Frenchie has something to say about that too- that's not for oil, its the ashtray!!! You really won't be able to fully appreciate the humor unless you could have seen how nonchalantly this busboy let me know of our blunders, but it was seriously hilarious. Stupid Americans!! Demain, je suis visitee Monaco. (How's that for some high school french? And yes I know the tenses and grammar are probably all wrong. What can I say, its been a while - I'm old, remember!)
