... looking for skiing /boarding, a party, and to get lucky occasionally. Be fair to say its a target rich environment, in all categories. We got a lot of kudos because of our age, and that we were 'living the dream'. Kind of funny also, we went to the staff do at the end of training. It was in a nightclub. We walked in about 10pm and everyone cheered. Said hi to people, bought a drink each, a 250ml Heinie and a vodka and coke. Cost NZ$26. Didn't stay long, but our ...

... walking and using the poles, which was starting to aggravate it a little. Anyway when I put my arm out to stop the fall, I got it right at the wrong angle and felt it all seize up. The Vin Chaud helped, but I wasn't using that arm any more for today anyway. So I sat out the last run of the La Cha, and waited the few minutes it took them to get down and back up again.

We could see peaks from Switzerland and Italy too. Absolutely stunning! It was freezing up there but so worth it. After taking lots of pics we started to ...

... into Chamonix for dinner and found a lovely Italian restaurant with superb food and service at a very reasonable cost. Easily our best meal in France. Walking home, we stopped to watch the Arle River which has swollen very rapidly so it was almost flooding some restaurant verandas overhanging the water. The noise of the river was huge and it sent heaps of condensation up into the night air which looked surreal with the artificial ...

Oops, no notes again! Refuge Elena quite new and modern. Large dorms but partitioned into bunks of 4. Located on a high ridge overlooking the valley, where we had a long break and arvo tea. Met some interesting groups of Italians, see the funny hats. It seems that all of Italy has these 2 weeks off, so the trails and refuges are full. Dinner in a lovely dining room, food pasta as usual. ...
