        ... but the bad news is that there is no lift - MANY stairs to heave the bags up! Amr gallantly brought both of them most of the way.... We have had a bit of a wander round - this is a tiny town, with a huge cathedral - actually the Abbey of Sainte-Foy. There was a wedding going on and we mingled with the very well dressed guests waiting for the appearance of bride and groom, which caused much cheering ...

        ... been so lucky - 9 days straight of perfect weather. But all that changes tomorrow according to predictions....heavy thunderstorms from about midday and as it is over 20 kms to Conques we had better be prepared with ponchos and gaiters!! And hope we don't slide down the hills. We have a rest day on Sunday, but next week is quite big, with 2 days of about 30 we will gird ourselves for that. This time we have a rest day after 6 days of walking, so all will be ...

We consulted the book, having learnt from yesterday, and found that there was an initial steep climb and then a walk up high which could be avoided by walking along the road.
