Ostend, Belguim was a quick 2 night stopover on our way to Amsterdam.

It had a huge beach and a large esplanade with some cool orange art features.

It was empty of people and would be one of those places that come alive in summer.

We did a day trip to the nearby gorgeous city of Bruges.

This is a cool city centred around a couple of big plazas, lots of canals and pretty photo

We got changed to go for a swim and when we were in the changing rooms Olivia managed to get the back of her leg caught in a seat that had a hinge which is used to lock the changing room doors. ... After some train delays (probably still struggling from the heavy storm yesterday) we get to the car pick up. All packed and set we drive off to Belgium: a three hour drive with some traffic jams and haunted by stormy clouds later we arrive in the sea town. The girls drop me off at the apartment I'm staying. It's an old, typical Belgium sea side holiday residence with four floors, all connected ...

... we find the day slipping away. We take our leave and head to our room to prepare. Our first stop this morning was to the De Halve Maan brewery or The Half Moon Brewery. Belgium is supposed to be famous for its beer and this is the only brewery in Brugge. We grab the 11:00 tour and wait for the time to arrive. A few more people arrive. The french speaking tour starts first and we hang back. The Dutch and English speakers are next and we are bundled together ...

    A Quiet Day in Brugge

... sit down and rest at. Ready to do some work, we looked around for a cafe with wifi. We found a nice one that served a good americano. Sitting by the window and working, makes me hope my next apartment has a nice view I can put our kitchen table by. Two hours later, well after I'm sure we overstayed our welcome, we left to explore the outer streets of the city. I probably said this before, but Brugge is just pleasant to walk around. For the next few weeks, until ...
