    ... I had stuffed up and that we would have to make our own way back to the hotel (not the worst thing that has happened to me travelling - eh travel buddies!) You guessed it... I asked one more time, took another narrow alley and we suddenly saw water and came out on the GC one bridge away from the group, still waiting for our boat to arrive. Thank you God...result of much prayer. I had rather exhausted Ken this day and hope to have learned my lesson about pace...

    ... to Venice. Ah Venice. Beautiful canals and narrow streets leading to private piazzas no other tourists have found yet.     ... fun negotiating the water; walking along the canal wall and being piggy backed by someone who had taken off their shoes was the preferred option. Later, we noticed some tourists wearing plastic galoshes which came up to their calves.
