We started our 3 day battlefield tour today - We are hoping to follow in the footsteps of our great uncle and his 2 cousins (though we will endeavour not to get shot and die). They all fought in the WW1, my great uncle Hugh also fought in Gallipoli but was shot and injured there then reenlisted and was sent to France. We started our first day on the …

Roundabouts are interesting because you go around the anti clockwise which doesn't sound a big deal until you have to change 37 years of doing it one way. How can you get to know each other with so many people pushing their ...

... Crater. This is one of the 17 sites where the English had exploded a huge amount explosives under the German positions at 7:28 AM on July 1. It left a enormous crater in the land. It also wasn’t very effective. Apparently the Germans were alerted to the fact that something was going to be happening that morning and were mostly pulled back from their front most positions. So, when the British attacked there, expecting little resistance, they ...

Today we are going to see Lois' old school friend. When they were teenagers, they used to stay at Diana's Nana's in Hove. Her dad left her mother the week that Diana was to take her A levels, apparently wrecking her life. We heard from her again exactly 30 years ago in May 1984. She had chucked in her 9 to 5 job, joined the RAF, survived basic training and met an officer, whose main passion in life was rose growing. Reader she married him and had ...
