We stopped at several suspension bridges over the river (some scarier than others), a Russian Orthodox chapel (in memory of the POWs who built the road & died in an avalanche), and lots of awesome views of the river valley and ...

Today we picked up a rental car and headed for the mountains! As with many rentals, we got something bigger than we reserved because that was what they had...it's not too big though, and so far it has treated us well. After breakfast, Sue was walked down to the shore of Lake Bled and passed off to one of the oarsmen of the local pletna boats. Holding up to 20 people, these traditional boats have been used to take people to the church on the island in the middle of the lake since the 1500s. Sue spent the morning at the island and ...

... and the jade waters of Lake Bled below it is picture perfect. The small island mostly occupied by the church tower and monastery, praises God for it's perfect placement. While the 11th century castle perched on one of the lakes cliffs, overlooks the island as if it's guardian angel. Nude children frolic in the lake while their parents try and grab a breather. British students on holidays run around trying to gain some vitamin D from the suns rays for their albino bodies! I lay ...
