Kaylyn and I caught a flight from Paris to Barcelona on Saturday. Nothing ever seems to happen without a hitch as we were supposed to drop our rental car off at the train station info desk, but of course they were closed (opened at 8 - our train was at 7)that morning and there was no Avis dropbox in sight. We parked the car and left the keys with a vendor who promised to take them to the info desk. Hopefully he did or now she is driving a new Avis rental. We got our hotel in Barcelona around ...
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands aacreeFor our last day in Barcelona, Kaylyn and I set out on a tour of all things Gaudi. The day before we booked a tour of the Palau Musica Catalana. This has to be one of our favorite buildings that we have visited. It was nice to see it during the day and to have the guide explain how everything came to be. The stained glass inverted bell in the roof looks amazing in daylight. I really like the architect who made the building and several others in Barcelona. Next, we went to the Sagrada Familia....
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands aacreeThe plan ride to paradise was so great. They played music on the plane, but it was all classical, so I put on my iPod and jammed to T-Pain and Cris Brown. I sat by the window were I could see the beautiful Atlantic, and Barcelona as we entered the wonderful city. After I landed, I took a cab to my hotel. It took about an hour and a half to get to the hotel. My bill was $85.00. That means that my budget is now $7180.24. The hotel was amazing. Basically spent my whole day exploring the hotel an...
Barcelona, Spain jerushaKiki and I met in front of the hotel at about 10:00am this morning. We walked around to some of the local stores for about an hour. Then, we headed to the cathedral, by cab. It was so beautiful. There was alot of people there. Camera flashes were everywhere. I love finding out about a place before I go there, so here's some info sbout the Cathedral of Barcelona, Spain: The cathedral in Barcelona is located in the Gothic portion of the city. This section is the oldest part of the city and serv...
Barcelona, Spain jerusha Hello everyone!
We had a very smooth exit from the ship, and we were making our way to the Barcelona Universal Hotel by 8:30. Of course our check in wasn't until 3 PM so we stowed our luggage and off we went. We purchased two day tickets, on the tourist bus of Barcelona, for 27 euro each. The bus had two lines, a blue and an orange, that traversed the entire city and stopped at all the major attractions. A really good deal. We rode the entire blue line. We got off at the Sagrada Family te...
The day started out really great with us all sleeping in and enjoying a wonderful breakfast buffet.
The buffet had all manner of food, sausages, sausage, cheeses, rolls, doughnuts, scrambled eggs. yogurt, mushrooms, etc. etc. We then left to go to the subway stop of Catalunya which is the beginning of both lines of the tourist bus. Today we wanted to travel the orange line. It would take us to the western and northwestern part of the city. We got off at the mountain of Monjuic where we rod...
I went to Barcelona for the weekend with Steve. Despite all the traveling we'd both done, neither of us had been to Barcelona before, and it's an AMAZING city! I've never been that into architectural stuff before, but everything in Barcelona seems to be an iconic structure, with the most famous architect being Gaudi, the person behind the design and initial construction of the amazing La Sagrada Familia Cathedral. This Cathedral was so much of a masterpiece, it's still under construction, cen...
