Day 1 Hammamet

A travel blog entry by 30challenge

... spell had meant that we left Cornwall with plenty of time before the flight, in case of accidents on the road. Other airports around the country had either cancelled flights or delayed ones. Ours seemed to be ok and on time. Once we'd checked in, we sat in the departure lounge watching the breaking news story that Whitney Housten had died.

Despite the ice our flight left on time at around 5:45am. ...

... with limited budget, we stayed on the beach for the whole day, eventhough the city was quite boring, i had such a good day there, the beach was perfect for swiming, the water was at the right temperature, not too wavy, the weather was perfect as well, not as windy as sousse where the sand could cut through your skin. It was the perfect place for us to relax after a long day of shopping and site seeingwith our bags. we ...

Into Africa!

A travel blog entry by mothman

Josefina, Dad, Joss and I on a four night jaunt to Tunisia. Josefina had already been there, but she was kind enough to go again, as it is somewhere I had wanted to go since 2000, where I had to cancel my planned holiday. That was going to be 7 days in a hotel, by the pool and beach. My idea of a holiday has changed since then, and this was to be much more tiring!

Arrived in resort hotel at about 8pm, dinner in ...

Hated it dont go with children

    from kittyjan35

We Was to this hotel, we was supposed to off gone to the bel air, we booked through going places and they new the bel air was under renovation a couple of weeks before but did not tell us, this was the holiday from hell twice over when we got to the hotel the staff was not friendly, the first rooms we were giving, the shower didnt work, it smelt of sewage, so we complained and was moved to another romm that was worse. there was a cockroach in the bathroom and there was about 7 cats roaming the grounds and one scratched my daughter. we compalined again and was moved to the taj sultan which was a brillaint hotel, before we checked out the miramar, the hotel manager got very aggressive because we were moving, the area was disgusting with a group of men sat across from the hotel who kept shouting to us give me english money, when we walked of they followed us, and would not leave us alone we felt so intimidated the food had hairs and bits of plastic in it, it was very scary especially for the children, the men kept looking at my 10yr and her 11yr old friend, when we complained that they were being looked at in a disgusting manner, the rep said thats normal as there not used to girls dressing this way,as there girls do not, back in england they would be arrested for looking at young girls this way. i know this all sounds like to much but this is the truth there was aload more stuff that happened but it would take to long, if you go to tunisia do not go to this hotel the best hotel i would recommend is the taj sultan its a five star hotel and the area is gorgeous, the people are great, the miramar reviews say that its a brilliant area but it is like the bronx is new york, that week we was there 3 people caught flights home early which cost them a fortune. and everyone on the bus back to the airport hated it so much its put them and us off, never again would we go to tunisia

    Excellent, well worth a stay

    from NormanLP

we were pleasently surprised to be upgraded to here, than to have gone to the Belair Hotel. This hotel was literally like a home-from-home. the staff were very friendly, and the food was even up to my fussy standards. Well worth it, and id reccomend you visit.

    Alles in bester Ordnung

    from LKCH

    from Lallybroch

    from anonymous

Hotel Miramar - fish, chips and mushy peas!!

We arived at the hotel miramar last thing Sunday evening after a long tedious journey.. We had booked late and I had specifically thought that 4* would provide a decent standard of accom and facilities and food. We were allocation on arrival.

    Bien avec des mais...

    from anonymous

    OK, but what a palaver...

    from t00tall

We made a last minute run for the sun and looked at the Miramar website and chose this hotel on a half-board basis. The hotel itself is OK, with clean rooms and good showers. I was able to hire a fridge for about £2 a day so we could keep water and fruit juice (rather than the cordial provided in the restaurant). The swimming pool was nice and clean, as was the beach.

    Review of Miramar Hotel

    from Lallybroch

My husband and I have just returned from a week in Hamamet, staying in the 4* Miramar Hotel. I suspect the star rating is based on the facilities rather than the quality of the actual hotel, as there is no way I would class it as a 4* hotel - more like 3* based on UK standards.

    Not 4*-Maybe 2* At A Push!

    from AvaG

Our group of 5 have just returned from our 4* Half board -"A on A" with Airtours/Direct Holidays/Panorama company. How wrong can you go, if you op for 4* ?? ..........
