... valley and town. There is of course plenty of guard rails that prevent any chance of a fall. But, when your that high up with winds gusting to 50mph, with an established fear of heights, its a bit scary. You can see the fear in my eyes in the pictures that Jonathan took of me. 4-5 minutes up there was enough, and then down we went!

... we met two women that eventually identified themselves as Army officers, two ranks higher than us. They were nice and we chatted with them throughout the tour. At the end of the tour they invited us to join them for a beer, so the four of us went to a bar the night watchman had showed us called "hell." One of the women was pretty funny and a real pleasure to talk to. Unfortunately the other one, an ER doctor, was more interested in herself than anything else, and ...

... and Dan get so excited when they find them and we can't help but get caught up in their enthusiasm!! They are good though)
We then had to have chocolate crepes for dessert - yummy!

After walking and enjoying the markets & town some more, we headed back to our hotel. We left the town by a different exit, so were a little lost for a while. Thanks to Meg's great navigational skills (which she clearly didn't get from her mother) we made it back safely.

We had a somewhat leisurely morning as we packed up to depart Lorch, with breakfast available from 7:30 am and the bus leaving at 8:45. Because there was serious roadwork on the regular southbound highway, John took us up the small valley behind Lorch on narrow and winding roads. We were in woods, with a stream along the side of the road; there were a few guest houses closer to town, then just countryside. Martin played "The Ride of the Valkyries" ...
