Left Spain with a heavy heart and headed into France. We were stopped at the first toll after the border by the French police. We resisted saying " good moaning or allo allo" and we were instructed to pull over to the bay beside the tolls. I noted that they waited until after we had paid the toll. ... here was the parking, which was €1.00 for 4 hours. Dune du Pyla is the tallest sand dune in Europe, and overlooks both hinterland and the sea. We just sat at the top of the dune for a while and took it all in. Again, another place to bring the parents, maybe with a picnic and some nice Bordeaux wine! ... had been cooked by some Fijians. So we headed on down and joined them all. It was great to meet some new people here, and join them and their families in celebrating Christmas away from home. ... to the iconic Iamsterdam sign to take pictures and went to the Rijks and Van Gogh museum. Didn't really go inside them but I wandered around the public parts of the Rijks and made it into the gift shop. Currently eating dinner before we head onto the night train to Munich!
