An hour or so later I was a bit peckish so ordered the restaurant's 3 course set menu - potato salad, turkey with coconut milk sauce & a creme caramel. ... I’ll just have to do more work in terms of manually climbing and descending, and using the electric trim to hold altitude – i.e., the old fashion way. N788W is fairly stable – by using electric trim to hold at altitude I can let several minutes go by without adjusting it (if the air is reasonably smooth).

... but all the descriptions are in French. The path around the island is reasonably flat but the steps up to the summit are very irregular and steep so not for the disabled. There are no beaches and because of the treacherous currents no swimming is allowed. It is easy to see why the prisoners did not escape or if they did they died in the attempt. Day 59 March 3 - From my hotel in Belem I'm soon squashed into a bus again, getting stuck in the turnstile again and within 40 minutes I'm at the airport! Flight was late and the plane similar to those used by flybe, ie tiny overhead compartments, two seats either side of the aisle. But, you get a sandwich and a free coffee!

This is the leg of the trip I've been nervous about! There is very little written about the Guiana's and to be heading ...
