Meri's pretty hardy.

... I just think it's a cool name. In a morbid way.Our first hostel in Edinburgh was adorable, a six bed dorm even though we paid for a 20 bed dorm. Very fortunate. Unfortunately, the shower didn't drain so my towel was wet and stinky for two days. The next day we toured the castle, very cool and worth the money it cost. Then we went on a free walking tour. If you're planning to visit any major European city soon, take the free tour! It's one of those things that ...

Day 2 in Paris

... chariots and the like - but this is so vast in all areas - it was awesome. Jack needed to go to the toilet and so we headed to the toilet and joined the queue - it was a massive queue and Jack was the going to be the only participant - so I came up with another idea. In the massive gardens were a maze of hedges - lets go for a wander through the hedges and give the century old hedges a water. Anyway Jack was happy ...

European Vacation

... in the city and still had a great time. We saw a lot of great historic architecture and could have seen a lot more, but we didn't want to rent a car, so we just relaxed there. We found a nice little hotel in the city that was pretty inexpensive and had free continental breakfast and free wi-fi. The next day we went to the next train and enjoyed a quick ride to Barcelona. After again taking nearly every form of transportation known to man ...

paris the second time around

... now and its been so good to just potter around and do whatever it is that I feel like. One afternoon I wandered along the canal beside the hostel, and watched the tourist ferries manuver themselves through the locks, as the water levels between the 2 canals are completely different. The ferries enter the first lock, the gate is shut behind them, the gate in front is opened slightly to let the water slowly lower, and when it is level the gate fully opens and the ...

... me. Today it was raining.....so we dedicated most of the day to museums and tripping around. After this museum we went to Notre Dam....probably one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. The ceilings are sooo tall and the inside is honestly inccredible. After Notre Dam we went to the musseum dedicated only to Monet's works of art. The museum was sooo awesome....it was set up in a circle and Monets water lillys were all around you in a circular room ...

Paris Week 1

... and get it over and done with...otherwise I won't come back with all this vocab I can show off with and that is half the plan right....? I"ve managed a tiny bit of sight seeing, went for a run/walk/getting lost around a little cemetery down the road from our apartment, Ciimetiere de Montmartre, its a crazy old place that is walled in and has the city all around it, once upon a time it was probably outside the city and away from the hustle and bustle ...

Shame on Me!

... doing his PhD and used the same words and he chuckled and said "why you say that? Because there are Africans and Arabs that live in that area?" I just shrugged my shoulders. Truth is, yes this area is an immigrant area of persons from the Middle East, Africa, and South/East Asia. Days went by and I began to get use to my new living arrangements and on my way to the Picasso museum I discovered that there is a neighborhood market in a warehouse on Sundays. I strolled through the ...

Paris for the marathon

... Perhaps there will be fewer mistakes as I have to concentrate more. I was up at 6.30 this morning for a breakfast of bread, honey and banana. I check out now so I had to put my bag into the locker room, well pad locked up. Over the road from the hostel is the metro and luckily for me its one line all the way to Porte Dauphine which is at the other end of Avenue Foch, where the marathon ends. I want to be there so that I can leave my bag in safe keeping and then head ...
