Today we revisited some of our favours places and also The Topkapi Gardens next to the Topkapi Palace - they are pretty bare except for some colourful pansies!
We walked down to the water, back through the Spice Markets which smell superb and then through the Grand Bazaar.
It's very wintery and everyone is rugged up in their thick woollen coats and boots, but it's actually quite refreshing and bracing - reminds me of Hobart in winter!

The food is excellent - lots of succulent lamb and chicken, gorgeous mezzo platters heaped with hummus, eggplant, spicy tomato dip, tzatziki, pickles, dolmades and lots of warm fresh made pitta… turkish coffee is my new favorite thing. its so hot it can melt metal, so strong it can give you a coronary, and so black and sweet. one a day is enough!! Wendy prefers apple tea - deliciously sour and sweet and very appley! Istanbul is our new favorite place!!

The next day was still overcast and we strolled along the very busy Istiklal Ave. (pedestrian/shopping) to the Galata Tower which was built in 507 during the sovereignty of the Byzantine Emperor Justiniaus.
