Today we revisited some of our favours places and also The Topkapi Gardens next to the Topkapi Palace - they are pretty bare except for some colourful pansies!

We walked down to the water, back through the Spice Markets which smell superb and then through the Grand Bazaar.

It's very wintery and everyone is rugged up in their thick woollen coats and boots, but it's actually quite refreshing and bracing - reminds me of Hobart in winter!

... Istanbul. The food is excellent - lots of succulent lamb and chicken, gorgeous mezzo platters heaped with hummus, eggplant, spicy tomato dip, tzatziki, pickles, dolmades and lots of warm fresh made pitta… turkish coffee is my new favorite thing. its so hot it can melt metal, so strong it can give you a coronary, and so black and sweet. one a day is enough!! Wendy prefers apple tea - deliciously sour and sweet and very appley! Istanbul is our new favorite place!!

We walked through the beautiful lofty gardens bouncing our mini bouncy ball; laughing at the dolphin police car that kept driving past, and the strange assortment of lion and bear statues (which seemed ...

... the food was delicious. Taksim Square is still heavily policed since the demonstrations but all is quiet. The next day was still overcast and we strolled along the very busy Istiklal Ave. (pedestrian/shopping) to the Galata Tower which was built in 507 during the sovereignty of the Byzantine Emperor Justiniaus. The tower was captured by the Turks in 1453 when the Byzantium was conquered. The tower stands 67 metres tall and you get great views of ...
