... to a parrot. It was a little smaller than a robin and sang and sang beautifully. I asked what it was as I thought that it was a nightingale. What do I know about birds though? Someone later told me that it probably was a Zenzontle, well known for its beautiful songs. I think that the name is an indigenous name so will try to ask a few more questions. Found the bird! It is a Mexican Mockingbird. Check the video out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d-QZpnF Kb8

Huatulco - Last Destination on the Pacific Coast

... between what the French call “qualité-prix”. The best choice was the Hotel Flamboyant located right on the main square at 550 pesos. It was large and contained an element of colonial splendour, not to mention the swimming pool. In the end we opted for the Hotel Vinni-zza right across the traffic circle by the bus station. It was nothing special but it met our needs for one night’s accommodation.

My marathon search was ...

... and not having to pay for a hotel room) and avoiding vomiting. It was still a really curvy road (as in luggage flying), but I was okay (with a Dramamine) beside being really, really cold (sat at the front of the bus- again, attempting to avoid vomiting- but it was a trade off because it also put me close to the artic air conditioning). The bus dropped me off in Pochula (about 30 minutes from Zipolite) at 6:00 AM. I wasn't in the best ...

... but I'm sure you wont believe me anyway! We are trying to finish our pseudo Almost Tequila before we fly to Cuba, only because its annoying to carry and our pride is hurt because its not Tequila! Heaps of Mexicans have tattoos and body piercings, and very cool clothing. There have been a few Goths, and I'm not sure if I said anything about the many Shamans that hung out in the massive Zocalo in Mexico City - they burn herbs and do spells or cleanse you or something to that effect ...

... and I went back on shore to soak up the ambience and have a margarita. We sat at a table just off the beach and watched (and timed) the banana boats going in and out (a trip lasted from four to seven and a half minutes). The margs were disappointing (and expensive) but we still enjoyed ourselves. Huatulco is nice -- and probably even nicer if you get to the other bays ... but the more I see of beach towns, the more I appreciate Akumal.

... Dan and Joe but we couldn't have gotten luckier, or had a better time. Thanks Dan and Joe! We moved on down the road Sunday and made it here to Puerto Escondido. We're told it is the surfing capitol of Mexico. When we arrived, the town was going nuts. Turned out to be a large surf competition, complete with fireworks, fashion show, rap band, rock band, and mariachi band. We were tired, but figured we should check the town out a bit more befor we left ...

... has it is going to be the next Acapulco. I'm in the cheapy town where I can afford to live like a queen. Closer to the water is a well-paved road lined with mammoth pastel hotels with gates and security guards. In every trip there is the letdown after being in paradise. I felt that way when I arrived. I went straight to my igloo and slept in comfort. Then I went down and wandered around until I found an "Irish Pub". It ...

... After seeing the new movie about her life I really wanted to go there. She is a hero of sorts and Ive always admired and pitied her at the same time. So we decided to make like Ted and head. After that we were outta there like a sick man running for the toilet. Breifly saw Cuernavaca and Taxco and drove all nite to Acapulco and then south to Puerto Escondido where Ive been for several days resting and enjoying. Hopé all is good at home :)
