Travel Blogs from St. Moritz
This morning we caught a series of 3 trains to take us from our hotel in Zurich Airport to St Moritz. St. Moritz is home to the rich and famous during the skiing season. The tourists desert St Moritz at this time of year so it is fairly quiet. The journey involved us catching 3 trains and a bus. One train from Zurich Airport to Zurich - about 10km …
... last year, but only just! Extremely lethargic and just made it to the top of the hill (above St Moritz Bad) and got home in 2 hours and 47 mins (the winner in my category did 1hr 37 mins and she is same age as me). I came in at 24th place out of 35 in my age category.
I really couldn’t keep blaming my age because Penny from UK is 70 and I was mostly trailing her. We were always the last two, but I really had to work hard ...

In addition to the six baths, there were two main sauna rooms that had three subdivided rooms within them and they got progressively hotter as you walked further through each room. In the last room, it was so hot and it was very difficult to breath especially if you were standing up, so I only stayed here for a couple minutes. We walked a short distance to the slope, and luckily my shoes felt a lot better as I went half a size up and did them up looser. The ski field was busy with a lot of little kids practicing. Gosh they were good and I just stayed out of the way. It is a bit daunting when a 3 year old comes racing past you.
Brigitte was great and went with me on the t-bar lift and stayed with me as I practiced the slopes and what she told me. Joel ...

TravelPod Member ReviewsHotel Baren St. Moritz
We have been told not to expect too much of the hotels in Switzerland. The Hotel Baren proved to be an exception to this. It has good sized bed, bath and sitting rooms and a balcony with beautiful views of the mountains behind St. Moritz.
The food was OK but not what I would normally order (Broccoli soup, ham and turkey and fruit salad).
There is no internet in the room but it is available in the lobby.
