1st August is Swiss national day, celebrating neutrality for many years. For my family, it is tradition to go to the Husli (little house in Swiss German), a little chalet build in the 60s by my grandparents and various aunts and uncles, and shoot off fireworks. It is centrally located in he Berner Oberland in the middle of Switzerland making it very convenient to make day trips around the area. Unfortunately our rainy weather persisted, lifting opportunely to view the fireworks ...

After dinner, we decided to walk the waterfront and enjoy the view. There is a festival going on, called Blue Balls. There were food and drink tents set up all along the waterfront. Basically, Switzerland is our favorite country thus far. Even though it is pricey, you get your money’s ...

... the ridge we round another bend and see Planplatten and that the cable car is running. It is still a bit away and it is now 3:30. I am afraid that based on another lift which closed early at the top that this was only open to 4 or 4:15. This makes me pick up the pace and when I get close to the lift, there is an extremely steep hill to the top. I start to push to get there and right at 4:00 the lift stops. I am thinking no way we miss this by 2 minutes when all of ...

... games, tests, videos or simulations. I could go on about everything forever, because we were basically there all day, but I'll just tell you my three favorite things. 1: the car display - a 7x5 display of vehicles from different eras, that took up a whole wall of the warehouse. Each car was mounted on a metal base - it was almost like a vertical carpark. Now here's the best bit: there was a 'gameshow' video on a big screen, where you could sit in seats ...
