Murren itself was a very pretty village with no vehicles. It started life as a spa resort in the 19th century. The dark brown colour of the houses looks as if the wood has been left to weather over many years. The new house are a much lighter shade. Often they a richly decorated. ...

It was steep....billy goat steep and my legs were not happy with me at all.

Sept 11 - last day in Lausanne/ after considering many choices decide to walk the city
It's challenging physcially up and down up and down! The older part is charming and has the most 'personality' - stop for coffee and find myself, by chance, beside a wonderful bookstore Payot - absolutely fabulous selection of books - enough to make me think I should learn to read in french as it would give me double the choices!
Visit the church of St Francis - fantastic coloured ...
