... to see the exhibit inside. Tracy was tired and cranky, and I felt I needed to be outdoors in the fresh (cold) air. Tracy waited in the car for DeAnna and Andrew, reading her Kendle, while I stolled around the block, taking a few photos.
After a while, we all met back at Tracy’s Pathfinder and went in search of something to eat. Our first try was a Chinese restaurant. Since most places, especially smaller businesses, don’t accept credit cards ...
Well...this time honestly I didn´t have time to make travel list or structure my backpack. After finishing my PhD graduation there was time onyl to celebrations and party (since the last months I rarely had much time).
Heidelberg is ...
... to me, switching to English when she figured my smile and nodding for what it was, said she'd lived there for 50 years but loved that magical moments like that still came around.
I left the magical moment up top and ventured to a drearier place, the Studeten Karzen. To boil it down, students who acted up were locked away in five upper rooms with no kitchen or running water for a few weeks. Looks as ...
Well we didn't really spend much time in Frankenthal. It was really just a stopover since we arrived a day early for my mum to arrive in Frankfurt.
We got to Frankfurt and found a call shop to help us find a hostel/hotel for a good price. Unfortunately there weren’t any in Frankfurt so we made our way to Frankenthal about 30 minutes outside of Frankfurt. One piece of advice…when parking in paid parking areas make sure you pay! Haha…we ...
... the city, its adorable beer taverns, and its gorgeous architecture. But I didn't love it, and I can't quite figure out why. Perhaps I was expecting more, due to the fact that every Germany guidebook touts it as a perfect German fairytale city. But it's also a college town and an industrial town, and the legendary "nightlife" I heard so much about wrapped up at about 10pm. But nonetheless, it's a stunning ...
Speyer, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany sql_spice... br>It all began in Wurzburg, the first stop on the Romantic Road. We spent one night there, and toured the town, which was far more modern than I'd expected. We drove the next day to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, which is possibly the most perfectly preserved medieval town in Germany. Really, it's stunning. The entire town is half-timbered buildings. The only problem with it is that it's much like Venice; the entire town exists for tourists, and there's not much real life going on ...
Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany sql_spice... the sunshine. Then I decided that I would probably walk a lot all day, so I would just take it easy until 10. I walked through the square by the church, and several produce stalls were open. Of course, there was plenty of spargel available! Then I went to the quieter square behind the church square, the one with the golden monument and the entrance to the castle stairs. I found a bench to sit on and just watch the people. The area was a lot less crowded than the evening before ...
Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany ksiegel... and our bus was to leave at 7:30. There was a group of us running behind though so we did make it to the bus... only a few minutes late. Once in Heidelberg, our group traveled up to the castle that still remains there. It was built in the 11th century and the majority of it still stands now. It was an amazing view of the city. It is just unfortunate that it was raining and cold today. After the castle, we had a couple of hours of free time to ...
Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany cali... An intersting note- they use two or three Falcons to keep the pigeons at bay- we never saw a single one, only the Falcons!
Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany jv3117The day trip to Heidelberg with Choi. Took the train in the "morning" or 12pm. Didn't know what to expect from this place. Was very impressed. Lovely scenic town with a magnificent old castel that blew me away. Was huge! Uni town so heaps of people would love to come back spend a few days here.
