Yesterday I arrived here by AC-bus from Chennai, it was a pleasant ride of about 1 and a half hours. Before I came here I had my personalised yoga-lessons in KYM in Chennai from 10 am to 12 am. It was wonderful and according to my teacher Ramamani I have very much talent for vedic chanting and should definitely think about furthering my studies in that field or do the vedic chanting teacher course. Well, I will think about it and time will show.

Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu, India naxIndia will sweep you off your feet..either you land soft or hard aka you love it or hate it. We are absolute lovers and still can't get over that first wow-feeling. We admit that we were nervous before getting here having heard so many crazy stories....but the craziness is what makes it so charming. When we arrived we experienced our first Indian head-wobble by the immigration guy and it ...
Mamallapuram, India losbrownsThe next day a bunch of friends and I went to Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram is also known as the city of a thousand temples. It was about a two hour ride from Chennai. Our driver got us a guide who turned out to be a priest at one of the temples we would be visiting. Priests are part of the Brahman caste, the top caste in India. Our guides father was a priest, and his eldest son is studying to become one as well. Having such a knowledgeable guide really enhanced our ...
Kanchipuram, India libby824... that we were all white (he was Indian by the way), he took us to this ****** house with half the specifications it was supposed to have. We refused to stay in it, and after arguing for 10 minutes he took us to the house we were actually supposed to have, a beautiful house with a pool about 1/2 mile from a beautiful beach. He then proceeded to ask my friend James for an 'extra gift' based on his help.. which we promptly ignored. My friend James, is half ...
Mamallapuram, India melissa_adamsWe left Chennai early in the morning on the one day Mamallapuram tour run by the Tamil Nadu tourism office. Kanchipuram was our first stop and we would spend the entirity of the morning there. Like many of Tamil Nadu's major cities, this town is considered a holy place and is known for it's ornate temples and we visited two of them on the tour. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to enter the inner sanctum in either one because they are off-limits to non-Hindus, unless ...
Kanchipuram, India tgreenspanUndoubtedly, traveling by train is, for me, the most enjoyable way to cover the vast landscape that is India. Making my way down South from Kolkata, I started to grasp just how huge this country is. Nepal had a cozy feeling about it, the fringes never seeming to far away, and taking the bus from city to city and looking out into the farmland, you could see that the land terraced from this point to that point belonged to the home on the edge there, and buckwheat ...
Pondicherry, India heather24... their morning smoke and others I'm appalled to see, using the beach as their toilet. I notice a strange ritual at the end of the beach. A man is planting a banana tree in the sand as the waves lap at his feet. After a few minutes of prayer, he digs it back up and carries it away. I send a silent prayer out to him. The famous Shore Temple is their backdrop. It is one of the earliest stone temples ...
