So we were here a little ahead of schedule due to our experience in Bratislava, thankfully everything improved here and we were happy to stay the 2 nights we planned.

Gyor was only ever a stop over destination and we visited the city centre today before we head off to Budapest tomorrow.

Budapest tour, cruise to Vienna

Budapest highlights then start the 23 hour cruise to Vienna. At 2,600km, the Danube is the second longest river in Europe (after the Volta). It's quite shallow and typically there's only 1.5 m of water under our keel. Before the snow melt, it's too shallow for the cruise ships in Jan and Feb. ... we celebrated with a traditional Hungarian meal of shared plate of salamis and sausage, followed by Hungarian Goulash, then pancakes and coffees. Some of the group went straight to their cabins and to bed, but we headed back to lounge bar to listen to the two singers and a bit of dancing. Lasted about an hour and a half, even did a few of our Tango steps, which seems to have improved our other dancing along the way. Slept very ...
