A short 20km walk to boente
... had a quick cafe stop of about 45 minutes and then went to melide for lunch which is famous for its octopus. We had a great restaurant lunch of octopus which was enjoyed by all particularly William and headed off for a quick stroll to our destination of boente in vastly improved weather. One of our many trips through the Loire included a lovely stay in Amboise. Situated directly on the Loire, the village and chateau of Amboise provide a great hub from which to visit several of the most significant of the Loire chateaux including Chenonceau and Chambord. Brit Camp!
After pitching the tent on the Monday night, we woke up to an almost totally British Camp Site, including Fish & Chip Nights! Tuesday morning Ruby had a lovely walk along the nearby river and Vic finally got to do his beloved fishing. Chateaux of the Loire I

Our first chateau was that at Azay-le-Ridieu. Comparatively modest, the most memorable feature (at least for Randy) were the exquisitely hand-carved rafters in the attics. All embellished with the year, monograms and family coat-of-arms.
