We arrived bright and early after a long train trip to Bordeaux which is a nice town in the south of France with almost entirely medievil buildings which are heritage listed. We spent the first day checking out the sights which consisted of a grand palace, Place de la Victoire, Bordeaux cathedral, Pont de pierre and Basilica of St. Michael and the mirror water.

We woke to torrential rain. In fact much of the night was torrential rain so it was no surprise we were next to a very large puddle. After breakfast in the camp common room we were sent to Bages , a tiny village where, to our amazement, there was a bike shop with the right size tyre and inner tube for P&Ps tandem - phew! We wanted to have a day or so on a campsite. It's a bit more relaxing than an aire and you get more space. We also wanted to go into Bordeaux and there aren't any suitable aires. So camping Bordeaux lac. Huge campsite but mostly chalets and mobile homes. Got there before midday and set up. Electric hookup to fire up the microwave and fridge. Luxury - hot chocolate! ... clearly stated that camping cars were interdit. We went down to Langon to see where the A380 parts were offloaded from the barges. Returning, we walked round the town. ... many of their vats to large SS ones. Each vat holding 18,000L. In order to put these in, they had to lift the roof off and replace again. In 2010 they replaced their large oak vats with new ones, however four of these were of very porous oak and they leaked continually. They have had to take the manufacturer to court, and won, so they await their replacements.
