A visit to Frankfurt -- RYANAIRS Frankfurt

WE took advantage of the One Penny (£0.01) flights from Ryanair to go somewhere we have never been so went to Germany the airport is Frankfurt Hahn which although is it's correct name it is cinfusing to strangers as it is nowhere near the OTHER Frankfurt (about 120km by road). We stayed at the Advance hotel zum Hahn which is in Büchenbeuren

Advance Hotel
Haumptstrassre 35
55491
Büchenbeuren
Deutschl and<br ...

We stayed in a Castle.

... drenched by the time we got back, so needless to say it was time for another glass of wine!
Our last day we spent exploring our little town, which is just starting to close up for the winter months, not to mention its harvest season so everyone who actually lives there is busy more important things! We even ventured across the river to Kaub, another cute medieval town.
Then we boarded another train to head to the airport... and off to Barcelona!

Bingen and Rhine Cruise

... whose age ranged from about seven to thirteen. They all seemed to be from the same school, and they did not seem to know much English neither did they seem so friendly when I spoke to them in German.

As we were sailing through vineyards in a famous winegrowing area, we shared an excellent glass of German white wine (Riesling) from the Bingen region. 2 Hour Lay Over!

So well I on my way to Bremen I had a 2 hour stop in Koblentz and it was 11 at night. I wish I could say I went and partied hard but I didn't. I tried, I followed some spot lights in the sky but those were to far to walk to so I just walked around a few blocks and found a dinner/bar and had a few ...

Mainz to Koblenz

So on the way to Trier, the train traveled right besides the Rhine River. It was AMAZING! The trip between Mantz and Koblenz was the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. There were boats just traveling up and down the river and plenty of vineyards on the rolling hills along with river. Also every 4 minutes there was another town and a larger church in ...

Rhine River in Flames

... So, for those who do not want to afford the expensive cruise, bus or train would be the preferable mean of transport.

Another point, I would like to make: the Rhine, especially between Bonn and Koblenz is home to dozens of large and little castles and fortresses. This fortresses are for the most part in private ownership, but on the Rhine in Flames event, this ...

Maybe it's because I'm a Koblenzer...

... it’s precisely here, where the two rivers converge, that I find the real story behind the name; the castle at the confluence, from which derides the name of Koblenz.

Steeped in two millennia of tradition, the city has changed hands more times than Angela Merkel has had hot dinners, so it’s little wonder that confusion over the correct spelling of the city still exists today. A onetime Roman settlement, the city has been captured by the Franks, home to the prince ...

Philip's stag tour

... and Amsterdam in Netherlands. Philip and Lawrence both took their cars over for the tour, with highlight of the Nürbergring racetrack. As they say, what happens on tour stays on tour, but we had a brilliant time. Here's a few pictures and video's from the Germany part of the trip, courtesy of Elias, who had the commonsense to bring a camera.

Day 9 - German countryside - castles and racecars

... lunch. MB had potato salad, which he loved and I had French fries and curry ketchup with mine (€17 for all). We felt bad not buying a bottle of wine or two, especially when we saw how cheap they were (€3-7 each) But we knew we wouldn’t have time to drink it before we left and had no space to take it home. We walked around the town and took some pictures of the castle, then went on a little further to Bellstein, which is a ...

Coup de Koblenz

Hey y'all, so it's been some time since our last entry and believe me, much has changed. First things first, Ainaz and I have decided to separate ways and ride solo for the time being. We figured we could cover more ground this way. She's going to take care of this NW corner of Europe, and I'm going to start heading ...
